Admatec has introduced the Admaflex Discovery desktop ceramic VPP system. Priced at $92,500, it targets universities, research institutes and industrial teams with defined first ceramic-AM projects. Desktop describes footprint, not a simple consumer workflow: the printed green body still needs cleaning, debinding and sintering.

Quantified capability

Build volume is 96 × 54 × 110 mm, nominal projected-image resolution is 50 µm and layer thickness ranges from 20 to 200 µm by material. Admatec lists up to 150 layers per hour. The 700 × 560 × 525 mm system supports alumina, silica and base resin, accepts SLC and STL files, and provides Ethernet, Wi-Fi and a process camera.

Required conditions are 22 ± 5°C and below 40% relative humidity. Slurry viscosity, settling and exposure therefore cannot be separated from laboratory climate. A 50 µm pixel is not automatically 50 µm final-part accuracy: light spread, cleaning, debinding and sintering shrinkage all contribute.

Upgrade path and system boundary

Admatec promises a later upgrade with a larger envelope, higher projector power and two resolution modes. Buyers need the included hardware and licences, site work and recipe requalification defined contractually.

A complete cell also needs cleaning, a suitable furnace, extraction, material handling, shrinkage compensation and density inspection. Admatec separately supplies debinding and sintering equipment. Printer price is therefore not the cost of a usable ceramic part.

Evidence limits

The hardware data and supported feedstocks are verified from the product page; $92,500 is reported by specialist press. No public independent comparison establishes dimensional accuracy, density, strength, yield or complete cycle time. Application coupons must close those gaps.

Editorial conclusion

Discovery may lower the entry barrier to professional ceramic VPP, but it cannot compress the material–print–firing chain into one box. Repeatable shrinkage, density and final properties—not attractive green-body detail—are the real acceptance metrics.

Sources and transparency

Specifications come from Admatec's October 2026 product page; price and market context come from TCT on 23 October. No independent production benchmark is public.
